The Ordinary Skin Care Set. A review.

I thought it was about time that I changed my skincare routine, working long hours and not drinking enough water really takes it out on my face. I’m prone to dry, sometimes oily skin and with that, most of the time comes the dreaded pimples and redness. My usual skin care regime was quite lame. I used cleanser, sometimes I’d exfoliate, the odd mask here and there and moisturise, so I did some research and decided upon ordering The Ordinary Skin Care Set. At £30.50 and four products to try it didn’t break the bank and it arrived a couple of weeks ago. 43851512_246149082736362_3500482076627435520_n

I needed to write this review so that I could rave about these products, I’ve been using them twice daily for about 2 weeks and I can feel the benefits already. My skin feels fantastic and it hasn’t felt this good in such a long time. The packaging of these products are basic and simple yet so sleek, each comes in a glass bottle with a dropper included to aid product use. They look so upmarket and not something you would expect from a ‘cheap’ product, in fact I leave them out on show on top of my dresser because they look so cool !

Inside the set.

  1. Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% (30ml)

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phoshate is a water soluble derivative of Vitamin C. This moisturiser is thick in texture and white in colour. On first thoughts I imagined this to be quite sticky upon application but was quite surprised as it glided onto my face and absorbed quite nicely into my skin. It hasn’t got a smell to it which is also an added 44033053_276328216329002_6356676792081711104_nbonus. The effects that this as had on my skin has been amazing in just a short space of time. My skin looks brighter with a slight dewy glow and feels plump, firm and soft to touch as opposed to the dried out prune face I’ve always been used too. I apply this at the end of my skin care routine and just before I apply my makeup. I have used it over oil based and water based products without any problems and their as been no skin aggravation after use. Cant believe this only costs £8.00.

2. Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (30ml)

So for all you wondering what EGCG is it stands for Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside which in short means tea leaves. This product is supposed to counteract dark circles and puffiness around the eye area. To be used twice daily this is light brown and watery in consistency and absorbs really quickly into my skin. I apply a small amount of this caffeine concentrated product around the eye patting with one finger and I have seen a subtle difference.  The dark circles have reduced and my eyes do look more awake in a morning which means no need for as much concealer. A little goes along way with this product meaning the bottle will last forever too! There has been no issues with applying makeup over the top of this but I can imagine too much of the product would make a greasy mess. I havn’t experienced any irritation with this product either .This costs £6.00

3.’Buffet’ Multi Technology Peptide Serum

I apply this once a day all over my face. It contains anti- ageing ingredients such as peptides, probiotics, amino acids and hyaluronic acid which are supposed to repair, renovate, strengthen and hydrate skin. 44115811_481824085662538_1631538216098070528_nAlthough skin feels smoother I’m not sure whether this is doing anything for my skin at 32 I don’t think my skin is ageing just yet, I apply this twice a day, it feels quite tacky on application but does dissolve into the skin with time.  This costs £12.70.

4. 100% Plant Derived Squalene (30ml)

This formula is found naturally within our skin and helps moisture loss and aids moisture retention. I use this once a day usually at night to keep my skin hydrated. If your anything like me and get dry skin once the colder weather comes then this is a great product for moisturising and hydrating the skin. It doesn’t feel greasy upon application and absorbs well, this product doesn’t cause breakouts either. I wake up now with supple soft skin which is great ! Cant complain for only £6.00. 44190291_705962886443817_245119637623144448_n

So there it is , my thoughts are that I will definitely be reordering. I might try something different next time. What does everybody else use ? Or do you use this brand but something different? Please let me know ! Thanks for reading.
