L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask. Hit or Miss?

I decided I was going to have a pamper night and went to the supermarket on the look out for a new face mask, not something too expensive but something that would sort out my skin. I’m usually on the look out for something that isn’t too drying as I am already prone to dry skin. I usually find clay masks to have a drying out effect for me so I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one claimed not too. For £6.00 I bought the L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask which contained a ‘powerful blend’ of 3 pure clays + charcoal. 45739824_1986909814703415_8387781601047609344_n

The 3 clays

A natural clay known for absorbing impurities and excess sebum.

Rich with minerals to help eliminate impurities

A pure concentrated mineral clay to help clarify complexion

With the promise of all these wonderful effects I decided I must try it.

The clay comes in a heavy square glass jar and looks quite cool. The clay inside is of a dark greyish colour and it wasn’t as thick as I thought it was going to be. It is very easy to apply and it spreads evenly over the face. For this reason only a small amount is needed, which is great for product longevity. The product fragrance is quite manly and smelt almost as if someone had dropped a whole bottle of aftershave in there so I was quite worried initially as my face is easily irritable when using fragrant products. The only downside to the presentation of this product was that it didn’t provide a spatula or an applicator so the first time I used it I had to use my hands which as you can imagine get’s quite messy. I now use a brush and its a lot easier to put on. 45775911_1288038584671281_1167227370654924800_n45615614_2255892061348294_5318673227742969856_n

I have been using this product twice a week. You apply the mask to a clean face and leave to work its magic for 5-10 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. I am unable to leave this product on my face for the full 10 minutes as the product starts to dry my skin out and feels soooo incredibly itchy so I leave on for a maximum of 5 minutes. Its very easy to wash off too!!

The first time I tried this mask I didn’t feel any benefit at all. My skin felt really itchy afterwards and quite red in places, so I just applied lots of moisturiser afterwards and this seemed to calm it down. I normally have combination skin with an oily T-Zone and drier areas. Now I have used this product for about 3 weeks and the only difference is that I have managed to gain more blemishes than ever before and my drier spots have gotten even drier. I’m wondering whether this is just the product getting rid of all the toxins in the skin and that they are coming out as spots, but my skin is really itchy now too. I really wanted to persevere with this product till the end but I am going to have to stop using it. 45745888_1941358149491872_7770388856930566144_n I think it must be the fragrance within the product which is not agreeing with my skin, but it definitely hasn’t done me any favours since using it. So L’ Oreal Paris this is a BIG MISS from me!

Let me know of any good clay masks you use and let me know if you have used this one.

Lots of Love and thanks for reading XXXSignature_2017-04-12_12-08-53
